David co-founded Peregrine Capital in 1998 and is a Portfolio Manager of all the Peregrine Capital Funds, while also being Executive Chairman of the business. David started his investment career at Liberty Asset Management (now Stanlib) where he started as an investment analyst.
Jacques joined Peregrine Capital in 2007 and is a Portfolio Manager of all the Peregrine Capital Funds, while also being Managing Director of the business. Jacques started his career at Old Mutual in 2006, where he worked in the Life Insurance Product Development team, and qualified as an Actuary. In 2005, as a student at Stellenbosch University, Jacques was awarded the Chancellor’s medal for being the top graduating student. He has represented South Africa at the International Mathematical Olympiad and International Olympiad in Informatics, winning Bronze medals at both events. Jacques is a member of the investment committee of the Mandela Rhodes Foundation and is a CFA charterholder.
Justin joined Peregrine Capital in March 2013 and is a Portfolio Manager of all the Peregrine Capital Funds. He qualified as a CA (SA) in 2012, after completing his articles at Ernst and Young. Justin was nominated for the Dean’s list at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2006 and 2007.
Tania joined Peregrine Capital in 2013 and has the dual role of Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Peregrine Capital. Tania has been employed by the Peregrine Group since 2000. Her first appointment was with Peregrine Holdings Limited, as assistant to the Peregrine Group Financial Director. Since 2005, she has been involved in the financial and operational management of hedge funds within the Peregrine Group. Tania qualified as a CA (SA) in 2001, after completing her articles at PKF Inc.
Leon joined the Peregrine Capital portfolio management team in November 2015, and is co-portfolio manager of the Peregrine Capital Flexible Opportunity H4 QI Hedge Fund. Leon gained experience as a sell side investment analyst at HSBC Securities and Macquarie First South. He was rated as the top property analyst by Financial Mail each year from 2005 to 2014. Leon is a CFA charterholder.
Simon joined Peregrine Capital in May 2009 and is an investment analyst. Simon completed his BCom (Hons) in Investment Management at the University of Pretoria in 2008 and is a CFA charterholder. During his studies, he led and won the University of Pretoria’s final year BCom Investment Management Project.
Anton joined Peregrine Capital in December 2015 after completing his articles at BDO. Anton qualified as a CA (SA) in 2016 and is a CFA charterholder.
Matthew joined Peregrine Capital in May 2018 as an investment analyst and trader, and is involved in investment research, trade execution and portfolio system maintenance. Prior to this, Matthew worked for Rezco Asset Management as an investment analyst for 18 months. Matthew qualified as a CA (SA) in 2017, after completing his articles via the Nedbank CA Training Programme and is a CFA charterholder. Matthew was placed 4th nationally in the 2014 SAICA ITC (First Chartered Accountant Board exam).
AJ joined Peregrine Capital in October 2018 as an investment analyst and trader, and is involved in investment research, trade execution and portfolio system maintenance. AJ previously worked at Rand Merchant Investment Holdings, before joining the asset management industry at Capricorn Fund Managers, in 2016. Prior to this, AJ worked in the capital markets team at Deloitte. He began his career at Investec in 2012, where he worked as a market risk analyst as part of his MSc degree. AJ was admitted as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in July 2015 and is a Chartered Enterprise Risk Actuary.
Dudley joined Peregrine Capital in January 2015, and is responsible for business development and investor relations. Dudley qualified as a CFA charterholder in 2014. Between June 2010 and December 2014, he worked at Momentum, where his last role was with Momentum Manager of Managers. Prior to that, Dudley spent 5 years at Goldman Sachs in London.
Alan joined Peregrine Capital in 2019, and is responsible for business development and distribution. Alan began his investment career on the Investec Graduate Program in 2007 and spent 12 years with Investec Wealth & Investment, managing private client money for HNW individuals, advisers and trusts. He ran Investec Wealth & Investment’s equity & currency derivatives offerings and was a voting member of their Deal Forum Committee. He was a member of the JSE’s Retail Advisory Committee, as well as the JSE Currency Derivatives Committee. Alan is a CFA charterholder.
Debra has been employed by the Peregrine Group since November 2002, and has been involved in the hedge fund industry since then. In 2009, she was appointed as the Compliance Officer of Peregrine Capital. Debra has worked in the financial services industry since 1980, and has been dedicated to the compliance function within an asset management environment since 2005.
Ania joined Peregrine Capital in April 2013 as a financial manager. Ania has been employed by the Peregrine Group since 2010, where her first appointment was with Peregrine Fund Platform, a management platform in support of start-up hedge funds, as assistant to the Chief Operating Officer. Ania qualified as a CA (SA) in 2009 after completing her articles at Deloitte & Touche.
Lindie joined Peregrine Capital in November 2018 as a financial manager. In February 2015, she was employed by ABSA through a post Chartered Accounting program, working within various finance divisions of the bank, before becoming a business partner and analyst for the Group Centre Finance division. Lindie qualified as a CA (SA) in 2015 after completing her articles at PwC Cape Town within their financial services division. In 2010, Lindie was awarded the Rector’s award from the University of Stellenbosch for Academic Achievement.
